    1. @Chris Maps If you’d like to do POD, then check out if Teespring or RedBubble is available for you. You don’t need access to a payment gateway with those!

  1. Wow you’re a genius and life saver, Sarah!! I was wondering these days what am I doing wrong in my recently opened Etsy store and BOOM there you come with all the answers! Your advices are worth GOLD my dear, I sometimes literally bingewatch your videos! Haha. Thank you so so much! 🙂

  2. Everything she says, yes, yes, yes. I started my print on demand shop a year ago…i started making sales last month. Word to the wise its a lot of trial and error. I made the mistake of choosing a print provider on printify that was out of the UK, as a result, my first tshirt sale which was ordered on sept 17th may not arrive until nov 1st…lesson learned and its my most popular shirt as far as views. I had to remake the entire thing with a new print provider in the US. Im super upset about it. 🙁That print provider also doesnt give you tracking details. Make sure when you are choosing the print provider you pay attention. Wish i would have seen this video six months ago lol i could have saved myself a headache.

    1. @James thankyou 🙂 there were plenty of times I wanted to give up but instead of quiting I would take breaks from it. Doing little things here and there. I asked myself what could I do better? As sad as it was, I used all the stressers in my life to channel my energy into my shop. So I joined a free webinar, I watched videos, and got on an ecommerce forum and asked for feedback. Their advice was pretty much what Sarah is saying plus a few more tidbits. I still havent turned a profit yet. The sales that I have got went toward fees, subscriptions, shipping, and product. Not to mention, I will probably issue a refund to the customer that bought the shirt. 😒 I’ll just keep fixing things till I get it right✌ goodluck to everyone!

    2. I’ve just recently started an on-demand print company do you mind sharing what Forum you joined? I can really use the help thank you in advance

    3. @Daniel Thayer Sure, Im on the Etsy platform so I googled Etsy forums for advice and there are a few links. They have an area you can post your questions or post your store link or name for people to view and give advice. I was suprised how helpful people were. Im not sure what platform you use but they have the advice forums for any of them I think. Hope that helps and good luck to you.

    One: Only add a maximum
of five color variations to your product.

02:04 Two: Check your print provider options before selling internationally.

03:20 Three: Make sure that you have a credit card or money set aside before you start a store.

05:34 Four: Check if your written phrase is trademarked, and avoid copyrights.
    09:49
Five: Have lifestyle photos for your products, not just generic mockups.

12:28 Six: Don’t just opt for selling t-shirts.

13:48 Seven: Check to see if your design can be printed onto a different product.

15:23 Eight: Add scarcity, but not to every product.

16:34 Nine: Check to see if your niche is banned on Facebook.

18:10 Ten: Find your most honest friend or family member to get their feedback.

    1. Thanks – I’m making notes while watching and this helps keep me on track! Great that you added the time-stamps! You rock!

  4. Thank You so Much for your information!! I have dreams of opening a thing for foster kids and I have all the plans for that but one of the things I have not been able to figure out is how to afford it. With your direction and teaching, I’m actually seeing this as a real possibility!!! I have been studying drop shipping and POD for about 6 months and I wish I had someone over my shoulder but I’m giving it my all!! Thank you for your info!

  5. This is so so helpful. I am already doing most of this! I have a little store I’m nearly ready to promote, but I keep going back and forth with descriptions. It seems superfluous to write the same thing, especially if it’s just a few words, no? I’m really not sure what to do. Thanks for these videos, love from NYC <3

  6. Sarah you’re my biggest inspiration! Thank you for your time helping us. I’ve done almost everything in your checklist. I use Printful, Shopify and PayPal. But I’m getting a bit stuck on the sales taxes setup for the USA and EU. It’s a labyrinth. what do you advice I do? how do you do it? Thanks in advance.

  7. Sarah- As always thank you for such clear and relevant content. Regarding POD, is there any problem with listing quotes on merchandise as long as you attribute it to the appropriate source? Thanks!

  8. Dear Sarah, is it OK to mix print on demand products in a largely dropship ecommerce store? Or do you advise to keep them separate. Thank you for all your videos

  9. Great advice, thank you! Too bad I can’t get some one on one coaching, I have the feeling your advice would be invaluable. I’m looking into if I can trademark my brand name and working on some designs but there is so much more to learn I have the feeling I’m going to have to binge watch your videos for the next week just to get started!

  10. I wish more people provided solid info like this. I’m just over half way through, and I have two pages of to-do items. Thanks!

  11. This video was so helpful! We’re dancing around the idea of selling merch and this definitely opened up our eyes about the many different aspects we’ll have to think about. Thanks for the valuable information!

  12. Loving your videos 🙂 Just starting out and wondering if you can us use all of Canva’s library of images to create printable designs for Clothing etc and sell them or are they protected too? If so, what is the best size/type to use to ensure the pixels and dpi are high enough resolution?

  13. More great tips. Thanks, Sarah. Also, I have to admit getting offended when I first created one of my online stores and an online stranger told me that my designs were not good. I was crushed, to be honest. And I verbally defended myself and wondered why that person was being so “mean.” But….later on, I got ahold of a lot better painter and animation programs and designed a whole lot better stuff. These designs made my past designs look like crap. That’s when I realized that I had been in the stone ages. Not that my designs are anything wonderful now, but they are a lot better than they used to be, and I am so happy for that. I hate to admit it, but I should be thanking that person for their honest advice. So…whomever you are…thanks!

  14. Thanks Sarah. This video was AWESOME! Super clear and very actionable. I’m more excited than ever to start my online store.

  15. I watched this video during my winter semester break its not been a year and I’ve put in a lot of work but inconsistently, I use ETSY and slowly but surely, I’ve gained sales most recently I made enough PROFIT** to cover some of my basic bills. I am now buckling down to seriously commit my time because I know now the possibilities this holds. Thank you for your vids seriously made all the difference. And to anyone thinking about diving in , do it, you might fumble, it might take time, but if you do not quit and chip away at it, you will see progress.

  16. Great video. Have been interested in POD / KDP and I appreciate the clear actionable information presented. So much of the ecom YouTube space is filled with grifters and it’s nice and erm.. wholesome to see solid info presented freely and without an immediate upsell to a course. ( Also would have had no idea that you need to pay up front for the printing instead of it coming out of the sale like with other ecom sites. ) Respect and thanks. ☮️

  17. Hi! As for trademarks, make sure you also check the WIPO and EUIPO databases, because trademaks – once that it has been filed on the original nation of the owner – can and often ARE registered internationally or in the EU countries. (It was my job)

  18. It’s easy to see how you’ve become so successful. Your thoughtfulness and consideration to provide value and satisfaction for your customers, or in this case viewers, is something that many others miss. It really shows that you work towards creating valuable content rather than just lazily recreating the same basic “tips and advice” that every other YouTuber posts. The focus on quantity over quality and rinse and repeat methods to making money online seems to be the trend nowadays. You are a refreshing and helpful change of pace, and for that I sincerely thank you.

  19. wow, she actually gives real, solid and valuable information to those wanting to sell their own products. this is new! thank you Sarah!
