A short term bucket is easy-cash. A medium term bucket is not so easy as you cannot predict the market so I don’t do it. I just look across my investments and sell some of whatever did the best recently, so I am always adding to my cash bucket as it is being used. The Long bucket is always keeping a fair amount in growth stocks or funds. And know your tax bracket and what you could do to get to a lower one.
